June,1889 Vincent Van Gogh made the art piece, ’The Starry
night,’ it is a painting that has a medium of oil on canvas, oil pastels. The
art piece consists of, whirling clouds, shining stars and a crescent moon,
using the colors, yellow, dark blue, black, green and some shades of light blue.
Below the night sky, there is a tiny town lights flickering through it, and
right behind it there are hills going in opposite directions, and on the right
hand side there is a abstract shaped castle that is shaded black, below that
there are tiny tree’s. I think in the art work, the tiny town and the dark object shaded black connect to each other, i think the black object means sadness, forecasting over the town, but the lights in the sky shines over the town not allowing that to happen. The Starry Night, in the art Vincent Van Gogh was
expressing himself and showing his journey of overcoming his mental illness, bipolar disorder, I also
think that the shaded castle in the painting is a symbol of his illness, and the
shining stars are his friends and family guiding him through this rough time of
his life, and the town respects his, the people in his life having their lights
on and waiting for the return of Vincent
from his rough journey of illness. The art work itself was beautifully crafted together, the idea
sparks in my mind are question’s for the artist, but communicate an idea and inspiration
to strive in my own artwork and to continue to better my own.The art piece in general is beautiful, the color compliment each other coming together and creating a famous masterpiece for many generations today, all together Vincent Van Gogh is one of my favorite artist, creating,'The Potato Eaters,' and another famous art piece called,'Irises.' His art work never seems to fail to impress me, or have me wonder the true meaning behind the painting, and ask the question,'what was he feeling when he made this art piece.'
